I couldn’t find anywhere to add a default gateway to the OpenVPN client on initiating a connection. I could find nothing in the OpenVPN client either. And then I had the idea of trying to add a default gateway to the TAP adapter under Windows 10. This worked perfectly, and the problem is now completely fixed.

Mar 31, 2019 · Problem with default gateway DHCP settings are correct, as I have numerous devices learning address/default gateway info. For some reason the old gateway 192.168.88.1 is stuck as default gateway, even with new dhcp assignment. removal via "ip route del" does not work and says "RTNETLINK answers: Operation not permitted" sudo is not installed

When using my Windows 7 computer to connect to the VPN, i get an Ip address but no default gateway it's either 0.0.0.0 with "User route on default gateway" checked, or blank when it's not checked.
